Asbel Ritchie
Asbel Ritchie, 88, of Williamson, Georgia, formerly of Canaan, died Sunday, June 26, 2005 at Spalding Regional Medical Center, Griffin, GA. He was born October 7, 1916 in Dwarf, KY, the son of Abijah Ritchie and Flora Mae Combs, both deceased. He married Marie (Owens) Ritchie and she preceded him in death on March 31, 2002.
Survivors include three daughters, Phyllis C. Goolsby of Griffin, GA, Norma L. Tuttle of Canaan, Eva M. Steadman of Carrollton, GA.; four sons, Vernon U. Ritchie of Griffin, GA, Kenneth A. Ritchie of Canaan, Wayne C. Ritchie of Seattle, WA, Ronald I. Ritchie of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Mollie Haskins of Florida; one sister-in-law, Lucinda Ritchie of Milan; 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ritchie retired from Seagram's Distillery in Lawrenceburg after 30 years of service. He attended the Indian-Kentuck Baptist Church, Canaan.
Graveside services will be held Friday, July 1, at 1 p.m. at the Canaan Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Asbel Ritchie Memorial Fund in care of the Lytle Funeral Chapel, Madison.
