Matreva Bentley, age 89, of Litt Carr, passed away Monday, February 19, 2007 at her home.
She was born in Brinkley, Kentucky on September 23, 1917 to Nicklas Combs and Susan E. Combs.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Elcanie Bentley.
She is survived by 2 children: Lura Lee (James) Francis of Litt Carr and Noah (Nora) Bentley of Litt Carr; 1 brother: Harry (Sue) Combs of Hazard; sister-in-law: Seling White of Hindman; 4 grandchildren: Beverly Wilson, Debby Caudill, Brenda McPeeks and J.J. Bentley; 5 great-grandchildren: Steve Perkins, Rebecca Caudill, Caleb Caudill, Adam McPeeks and Alex McPeeks; host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services wee held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 21, 2007 with Jesse Hagans, Bordis Slone and Ronnie Combs officiating. Burial followed at the Bentley Family Cemetery at Litt Carr, Kentucky.

Jimmie O'Dean Hylton

Jimmie O'Dean Hylton, age 65 of Lotts Creek, passed away March 10, 2007, at Hazard ARH. He was a disabled coal miner & member of Lotts Creek Old Regular Church. He was the son of the late Vernon & Margarette Singleton Hylton.
He is survived by his wife: Earnestine Hurt Hylton; 4 sons: Hubert (Lisa) Hylton of Pinetop, Vanzle (Tammy) Hylton of Topmost, Jimmy Darrell (Angie) Hylton of Red Oak, & Odis (Mae) Hall of Lotts Creek; 5 daughters: Carolyn (Kevin) Richardson of North Fork Va, Margarette (Doyle) Fugate of Lotts Creek, Bonnie (James Darrell) Mosley of Garner, Anisha Hylton & Chastity Hylton of Lotts Creek; brothers & sisters: Oberine Hylton of Indiana, Mary Ann Fletcher of Georgia. Special grandson: Whirley Oliver; 11 grandchildren & 1 great-grandchild.
The funeral was held Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home at Martin, Ky., with Leslie Shepherd, JR Hollifield, & Junior Whitaker officiating. Burial was at the Howard Cemetery at Reynolds Fork, Mallie, Ky., under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.

Ford Jacobs, age 40 of Pippa Passes, passed away March 9, 2007, at his home. He was the son of Dora Ellen Jacobs, and the late Nick Jacobs.
He is survived by 1 son: Cameron Blake Jacobs; 1 daughter: Madison Jade Jacobs; 1 step-daughter: Haley Lykins; 2 brothers: Darrell Jacobs of Pippa Passes & Dale (Sandy) Jacobs of Indiana; 3 sisters: Carolyn (Keith) Thomas of Pippa Passes, Geraldine (Clyde) Jacobs of Pippa Passes, & Barbara (Bobby) Ritchie of Indiana; girlfriend: Darlene Pigman; special nephew: Gregory Jacobs; a host of other nieces & nephews.

Alisha R. New, age 17 of Garrett, Indiana, passed away March 10, 2007, in an automobile accident in DeKalb County. She was born December 13, 1989, in Kendallville, Indiana to Danny R. Rose and Sharon R. New. Alisha was a junior at Garrett High School and was a member of the Rhythm Connection Show Choir. She worked at Arby's in Auburn, Ind. for 8 months. Alisha enjoyed playing softball, volleyball, soccer, and basketball.

Sarah Opal Pridemore, age 93, of Mallie, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at the Pine Meadows Nursing Home at Lexington, Kentucky.
She was born in Knott County, Kentucky on January 4, 1914 to William "Chigger Bill" Collins ad Lucinda Stamper Collins.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Russell Pridemore; sons: Rex Russell and Ray Pridemore; daughter-in-law: Adna Pridemore; 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
She is survived by her daughter: Geri Cole of Lexington; daughter-in-law: Harriett Pridemore of Mallie; 4 sisters: Ruie Fugate of Carrie, Maude Sykes of Pinetop, Laura Hall of Litt Carr and Gelema Bray of Ohio; 8 grandchildren and a host of great and great great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 3, 2007 at the Hindman Funeral Services chapel with Ricky Smith and Randall Short officiating. Burial followed at the Mountain Memory Gardens at Hindman, Kentucky.
