Arelne Caudill Barnhart

Arelne Caudill Barnhart, age 76 of Hindman, passed away October 1, 2008, at Riverview Health Care Center, Prestonsburg. She was born November 23, 1931, at Hollybush, the daughter of the late Henry C. & Madge Huff Caudill. She was a retired teacher and a member of the Assembly of God. She was the wife of the late George Barnhart.
She is survived by 1 step-son & step-daughter: Patrick Barnhart & Rebecca Barnhart both of Denver, Colorado; 3 sisters: Priscilla Combs of Clinton Township, Michigan, Ellora Lockhart of Epheata, Penn & Christine Crisp of Martin, Kentucky; a step-grandchild & step great grandchild: Kim & Alarain.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 brother: Chad R. Caudill; 2 sisters: Ivallean Brooks & Stella Slone.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 3, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Nelson Frazier Funeral Home of Hindman, with Don Crisp officiating. Burial followed at the G.C. Huff Cemetery at Pippa Passes, under the direction of the Nelson Frazier Funeral Home of Hindman, Kentucky.

Charlie Combs

Charlie Combs, 74, of Redfox, KY, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at the Hazard ARMC. He was born in Vicco on July 4, 1934 to Samp Combs and Ada Green Combs.
He was preceded in death by son: Charles Combs; grandson: Jamie Charles Combs; brothers: Lawrence and Kelly; sister: Alta. He is survived by his wife: Jewell Combs; 6 children: Linda Sizemore, Dale Slone, Charlene (Joe) Hicks, Janet Combs, Joan (David) Owsley and Elizabeth (Jeff) Gibson; 1 brother: Archie Combs; 17 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2008, at the Hindman Funeral Services Chapel with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial followed at the Combs Family Cemetery at Redfox.

Ruby Slone Gibson

Ruby Slone Gibson, age: 54 of Hollybush, passed away October 2, 2008, at UK Medical Center, at Lexington. She as born on march 26, 1954, the daughter of the late Leslie & Alvertie Slone, and step-daughter of the late Conston Short. She was a homemaker and wife of Hank Gibson.
She is survived by 3 brothers: Harold Dean (Norma Jean) Short of Hindman, Douglas Darrell Slone of Leburn, & Elba (Shirley Slone both of Pippa Passes; 2 sisters: Phyllis Slone of Hindman, & Brenda (Phillip) Sturgill of Vest, Kentucky; a host of nieces, nephews, family & friends; like a mother: Erma Stepp; sister-in-law: Jeanette Slone.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father; 1 daughter: Colleen Slone; Four Brothers: Coshel Slone, Kitt Slone, Ed Slone & Earl Gene Slone; 3 sisters: Nancy Lee Slone, Betty Louise Slone & Frankie Catherine Slone.
Funeral services were held on Monday, October 6, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home of Hindman with Lawrence Baldridge, Eugene Thacker & Bethel Bolen officiating. Burial: Upper Jimmy Slone Cemetery, Pippa Passes, under the direction of the Nelson Frazier Funeral Home of Hindman.

Frankie Catherine Slone, age 57 of Mallie, passed away September 30, 2008, at the Hazard ARH. She was born September 9, 1951, in Knott County, the daughter of the late Leslie & Alvertie Slone. She was a homemaker and the wife of the late Denzil Slone.
She is survived by 5 sons: Thomas Slone of Hindman, Levon (Debbie) Slone of Pippa Passes, Denzil Slone, Jr. of Pippa Passes, Darrell Slone of Hindman, & Jamie (Jennifer) Slone of Pippa Passes; 3 daughters: Angeline (Jerry) Caudill of Pippa Passes, Amanda (Danny) Slone of Hindman, & Angie Slone of Pippa Passes; 4 brothers: Harold Dean (Norma Jean) Short of Hindman, Mitchell Slone of Hindman, Douglas Darrell Slone & Elba (Shirley) Slone both of Pippa Passes; 3 sisters: Phyllis Slone of Hindman, Brenda (Phillip) Sturgill of Vest, & Ruby (Hank) Gibson of Pippa Passes; a host of nieces, nephews, family & friends; special friend: Linda Fields; like a brother Devon Slone.

Harold L. Smith

Harold L. Smith, age 74, of Kendallville died on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at home rural Kendallville. He was born in Carrie, on December 13, 1933 to Robert and Gertrude (Cornett) Smith. He married Iola Davidson on June 24, 1954 at Carrie. He was a carpenter by trade and was well known for his handyman work in the Kendallville area. He was employed Ned Schlosser Construction of Auburn for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Iola Smith of Kendallville; 5 sons: Jack (Robin) Davidson of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Ron (Laverna) Reaves of Brownsburg, Indiana, David (Paula) Smith of Kendallville, Keith Smith of Avilla, Bill Smith of Kendallville; 1 daughter: Pam and Steve Trowbridge of Kendallville, Ind.; grandchildren: Jeff Davidson, Michael Smith, Tarrah Pollaro, Zach Reaves, Tricia Smith, Tabitha McClure, Brandi Reber, Kayleah Smith, Joseph and Drew Trowbridge, Ryan Whetstone, and Megan Bell; 10 great grandchildren; 1 brother: Tommy Smith and Isaac Smith of Carrie; 2 sisters: Marie Clemons and Norma Risner of Carrie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandchild; Christopher Trowbridge in 1997; and two brothers, Arnold and Jackie Smith.
Funeral Services will be Friday, October 10, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Hite Funeral Home with Scott Pattison of Trinity Church United Methodist officiating. Burial will be at Sweet Cemetery near Albion.

Dallas Ray Terry

Dallas Ray Terry, age 72, of South Milford, died Sunday, October 5, 2008 at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Hazard, Ky., on October 16, 1935, to Silas and Bertha Terry. He married Sylvia Ritchie on March 3, 1956. He was employed with Foley Pattern in Auburn and also worked at Lane Foundry in Kendallville. The last four years, he did yard work at Tri-State Hardwood north of South Milford.
In his earlier days, Dallas was a farm hand and helped milk cows for Perkins Farms in Stroh.
He was a member of the Helmer Independent Baptist Church where he enjoyed going to church.
Dallas liked to go fishing and camping at Atwood Lake. He enjoyed playing cards. His favorite card game was "Rook". He also enjoyed gardening and canning and cleaning turtles for people.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Terry of South Milford.
Daughter, Debra and Doug Borden of Avilla.
Daughter, Diane and Glen Nagel of South Milford.
Daughter, Theresa and Don Harper of McClish Lake, Hudson.
Son, Doug and Lisa Terry of Stroh.
Grandchildren: Bradley and Junko Borden of Plainfield, Illinois; Jill and Michael Carlson of Spring Lake, Michigan; Monica and John Elliott of Orland; Heather Nagel of Fort Wayne; Michael Harper of McClish Lake; Tyler, Taylor, Tianna, Tressa and Trevyn Terry all from Stroh.
Eight great grandchildren: Kylee and Ewan Borden, Olivia and Ella Carlson, Braxton and Kambria Elliott, and Cora Clinton and Sylas London.
Family dog, Molly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Gladys Anthony, Ogie Perkins, and Dolly Combs and three brothers, Gomer, Willis and Wallace Terry.
Funeral Services were held Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Hite Funeral Home.
Burial followed at Lake Bethel Cemetery in LaGrange County.
Preferred Memorials may be made to Stroh Fire Department, Parkview Noble Home Health and Hospice or Helmer Independent Baptist Church.

Louise Williams, 77, of Emmalena, passed away October 2, 2008 at the UK Medical Center at Lexington. She was born in Bearville on October 8, 1930, to Hargis Napier and Della Patrick Napier.
She was preceded in death by her Husband: Aaron Williams
She is survived by Son: Kenneth Williams; Daughter: Linda (John) Amburgey; Sisters: Lorain Creech, Jean Creech and Lucy Barnes; Grandchildren: Jonathan Amburgey (Tiffany), Jason Amburgey (Joy) and Erick Williams; Great Grandchildren: Jacob, Lindcie, Mason, ERicka, Chase and Rain.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 6, 2008, at the Hindman Funeral Services Chapel with Carl Slone, Howard Owens and Don Pratt officiating. Burial followed at the Jim Patrick Cemetery at Bearville.
