ROBERT DENVER KENNEDY, 52, of Lily, passed away Friday afternoon, June25,
1999 in the Marymount Medical Center in London. He was the son of Laura Neal
Kennedy Cooper and the late Dewey Kennedy born on March 31, 1947 in
Greenwood. Through the years, he enjoyed working with foreign exchange
students. On September 7, 1966, he united in marriage with Carolyn
Blankenship in Indianapolis, Indian. He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn of Lily; his mother, Laura Neal Cooper of
Corbin. Funeral services were conducted in the chapel of the Corbin Funeral
Home Monday, June 28 at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Wilmer Evans officiating. A
graveside service followed at the Barren Fork Cemetery in Whitley City at 6
p.m. Casketbearers were family and friends of Mr. Kennedy. Knox Funeral Home
was in charge of arrangements.
ANNA "Dutch" HEMBREE, 86, of Barbourville, passed away Tuesday, June 22,1999
at her residence. She was the daughter of the late John and Maude Davison
Reynolds born to them on April 17, 1913 in Clay County. She was the wife of
the late Harvey Hembree whom she united in marriagein 1933. Funeral services
were held in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, June 24 at 2 p.m.
with the Rev. Tommy Frazier and the Rev.Donnie "Duke" Hammons. Burial
followed in the Hembree Cemetery in Heidrick.Hopper Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.
ELI TIDWELL, 98, of Bryant Store was born on April 28, 1901 to Andrewand
Addie Jane Tidwell and passed away Thursday, June 24, 1999 in theKnox County
Hospital. He was the widower of Pearlie (King) Tidwell. .Funeral services
were conducted on Sunday, June 27 at 2 p.m. in theHampton Funeral Home Chapel
with the Rev. Bill Gray officiating. Burialfollowed in the Powers Cemetery at
Bryants Store.Hampton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
MARVIN RAY JARVIS, 93, of Kettering, Ohio, formerly of Knox County, passed
away Friday morning, June 25, 1999 in the Kettering Memorial Hospital .He was
the son of the late Dutton H. and Mary E. Taylor born on November29, 1905 at
Jarvis Store He was a retired self-employed painting contractor. On July 20,
1938, he united in marriage with Lela Mae Martin in Newport. Survivors
include his wife Lela of Kettering, Ohio. Funeral services were conducted in
the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Monday, June 28 at 11 a.m. with the Rev.
Denvil Taylor officiating. Mr. Jarvis was laid to rest in the Barbourville
Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may go to the Shriners Hospitals for
Children,1900 Richmond Road, Lexington, KY 40502 in loving memory of Mr.
Jarvis.Knox Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
MITCHELL LEE MARLOW, 64, of Artemus, was born in Harlan County on February
27, 1935 and departed this life on Tuesday, June 22, 1999 at Gregory
Branch.He was the son of the late Starling Marlow and the late Dora
(Gray)Marlow. He was a logger and a coal miner. Funeral services were
conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel onFriday at 4 p.m. with the Rev.
Ledford Hamilton officiating. Burialfollowed in the Sowders Cemetery at
Artemus. Hampton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
HEBERT "Shorty" MORRIS, 85, of Bimble, was born on January 9, 1914 and
passed away on Sunday, June 27, 1999 in the Pineville Community Hospital. He
was the son of the late John T. Morris and Mary Jane Poff Morris and the
widower of Pauline Shelton. He was a retired farmer and truck driver..Funeral
services were conducted at the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel onTuesday, June
29, 1999 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Earl Hammons officiating. Burial followed in
the Morris Cemetery at Bimble.Hampton Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
HASKEL RAY, 62, of Nicholasville, was born in Laurel County on September22,
1936 and passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 1999 in the St. Joseph Hospital in
Lexington. He was the son of the late Lee Ray and the late Axie (Frye) Ray
and the husband of Mirella (Smith) Ray. Survivors include his wife, Mirella
Ray of Nicholasville. .Funeral services were conducted in the Hampton Funeral
Home Chapel onFriday, June 25 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Marvin Jones
officiating. Burialfollowed in the Smith Family Cemetery at Woollum.Hampton
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
KENNETH RAY MESSER, 60, of Belton, MO, and formerly of Knox County, passed
away in the Rocky Mountains, in Colorado, on June 5, 1999. A memorial service
was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 26 at Mt. Moriah &Freeman Funeral home, his
ashes to be scattered at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family
suggests contributions to the Rocky Mountain Rescue, PO Box Y, Boulder, CO,
80306, or the Air Safety Foundation, PO BOX 12888, Wichita, KS, 67277. Ken
was born March 4, 1939, in Heidrick. He enlisted in the Air Force at 15 and
was stationed in Denver, England, Germany, and Missouri. He retired from the
Air Force at 35, and started his own dental lab business. Ken is survived by
his wife, Gillian.
JOHN W. "Jack" TAYLOR, 81, of Springfield, Ohio, went to be with OurLord on
Monday, June 28, 1999 in the Springfield Community Hospital. He was born in
Barbourville on February 10, 1918 to Hiram L. Taylor and Lucy (Cole) Taylor.
He retired from Teledyne/Ohio Steel Foundry as a crane operator after 35
years of service. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the
ConroyFuneral Home with Pastor Deane Hardy officiating. Burial will follow
inthe Asbury Chapel Cemetery.
EDWARD M. CLOUSE, 72, of Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of Knox County,passed
away Thursday, June 24, 1999 in the Columbia Health Care Centeri n Reading,
Ohio. He was the son of the late John and Martha Smith Clouse..Funeral
services were held in the Hodapp Funeral Home Chapel in Cincinnati on Monday,
June 28 at 10 a.m. Burial followed in the SpringGrove Cemetery in Cincinnati,

BOBBY R. MILLER, Sr., 64, passed away at Hospice of Cincinnati Cancer Center
in Cincinnati, Ohio, June 23, 1999.He was the son of Cleadith Payne Miller
and the late Smith Miller of Flat Lick. Survivors include his mother,
Cleadith Payne Miller of Flat Lick..Memorial service was held in

LOIS KING KLETTE, 59, of Flat Lick, and formerly of Newport, Kentucky,died
Tuesday, June 29, 1999 at her home. She was the daughter of Bonnie Elam King
