I'll admit, my Messer line has confused me quite a bit with so many of the same names. The 1870 census is what made me think Edward was Gorden's father. I'm just trying to gather as many documents as I can so I can try to piece everyone together correctly. I'll take a closer look at the census and any other records I can find. Do you happen to know when Gordon died?
