George B. Holthouser md. Sue Bell. If you get a copy of marriage from

I did read the film of marriage bonds....So it apparently didn't list the

I've been to LaRue County and looked at some records. I don't want to step
on anyone's toes here, but in the counties I've been to, they've told me that
when the LDS came in to photograph records, they were sometimes pretty sloppy
about it, not making sure they got everything, etc.

At LaRue Co. I found they would write info in various records. On my
grandparents marriage license it said this was my granddad's third marriage. In the
Marriage bond record , as surety for the marriage bond the person was my
grandmother's uncle, which I found out through more checking (census). In the
marriage book they list the place of marriage, and often it was in someone's home
and you get clues there; it also lists the names of the witnesses, and those
are more clues to relatives, etc. If either party was under age it will list
their parent or guardian. For one of my ancestors, it lists the bride as
Malvina Walters; marriage took place at "her father's, LaRue County KY"; and the
witnesses were Erastus Burba (groom's father or uncle) and James Walters
(bride's father). So just one piece of paper may not have what you want, but
checking every available record can help.
