Forgive me for sending this as a reply to message, but since it has been
so long since I sent the first message I thought it might be nice if we
both knew what I was talking about. :-) Anyway, sorry to take so long to
get back, but the holidays...yada yada...

The Bowlings I was referring to specifically was an Elizabeth (Owens)
Bowling who later m. a Johnson. Anyway, She married first a Preston
Bowling aroung 1860 possibly because my ggma Martha was b. about that
time. Preston is gone by 1870's it seems but lo' there are other
children born after this time before she marries Mr. Johnson. They went
by the Bowling name.

To continue this saga...Martha Bowling has a relationship with George M.
Cornett, son of George Bourn Cornett recently mentioned in the "excerpts"
as having died of cancer. They did not marry, but did have two children
incl. my gfa Ezekiel and gAunt Mary. She went by Cornett. Ezekiel was
b. 1880 according to his mother but no where can I find him in a KY
census. He was supposed to have been b. in Laurel Co. in April.

I was just hoping, that with your connections of knowing people, you
might have heard this story or something like it. I'm curious what
happened to Preston, why Martha and George did not marry, and why Ezekiel
isn't in the census. Well, yes, that's a lot to be curious about. I
believe Martha may have been part Cherokee - her daughter's picture
(Mary) she has even darker skin than her mother. OK....so she may have
been part black too. I don't know and can't find any documents or
anything to indicate answers. Just want the truth. Y'know. If you can't
help that's ok too. Maybe someone on this list might have some clues.
Thanks - Marsha
