Layton Nantz

Layton Nantz, age 86, of Fairfield, passed away at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield on Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at 8:06 a.m. He was born in London, Kentucky, on October 26, 1916, the son of Albert and Amanda (Benge) Nantz. Layton was a papermaker at Champion International for 43 years, retiring in 1978. An Army veteran of WWII he was a life member of American Legion Post #138 and VFW #1069. Layton was an avid camper, fisherman and Cincinnati Reds fan. On August 28, 1941, in Hamilton, Ohio, he married Beulah Loman, who passed away June 22, 1991.

He is survived by his son, Paul and his wife Elizabeth Nantz of Fairfield; three daughters, Wilma Jean and her husband Russell Young, Linda and her husband Donald Noes and Debbie and her husband John Campbell, all of Hamilton; six grandchildren, Scott (Susie) Young, Chris Noes, Randy (Cami) Young, John Noes, Melissa (Jason) Watkins and Jeff Nantz; step-grandson, John Campbell and a future great-grandchild, Ciara Nicole Young. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and several brothers and sisters

Funeral service will be held at the Brown Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue Monday, June 9, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Danny McDowell of Fairfield Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Two North at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield for their care and concern.
