Trying to find out if my father changed his name from WHORTON to JONES
sometime between 1930 and 1948..I can't find birth records for JAMES EDWARD
JONES or JAMES EDWARD WHORTON born 11-5-1913, Smithland Livingston Co. KY d.
Dec. 13, 1975 Bakersfield CA. Parents LEE EDWARD WHORTON (or JONES) and ROSA
(Rosy)E. CAMPBELL b.Aug. 13 1886 Smithland Livingston, Co., KY d.Jan.22,
1975 At Parkview Conv. Center, Paducah, McCraken Co., KY. She was living in
Ledbetter, Livingston Co., Ky. at the time of her death.
I have Census records for 1920 and 1930, James is living with LEE EDWARD
WHORTON and mother Rosa in Deyer Hill Twp. They lived there until at least
1936 when Lee Whorton died.
James and Lee both worked in a Quarry. Family legend is that they were both
teamsters.(drove mules).
His siblings were 2. ADELINE WHORTON FIRES, FIERS b.Feb. 17, 1916 d. Jan,
17, 2000 Ledbetter Livingston Co., Ky. 3.NANIE NANCY, 4.FRED L. and 5.
MELVIN L. Whorton b.1929.
JAMES E. WHORTON or JAMES E. JONES married first wife UNK who died in child
birth? abt. 1936-1940 or later? Would like to have any information anyone
might share with me on this family.
James married my Mother, JUANITA M. ROBERTS FRAZIER, 1948 in Greene Co, AR..
Jaunita is still living age 79.
Any help greatly appreciated,
