Claudia,
How exciting to exchange info with you re this matter!! I'm interested in
the GORE surname. My Phantly Roy BEAN, son of William BEAN, the patriach
of my BEAN family (bro of Benjamin) marr. Anna H. GORE, in Mason Co. KY.
About 1823 or so they moved to Shelby Co. near Shelbyville (think that was
the name of the town). I have parents and grandparents of Anna. Her father
was Andrew, will have to look in my FTM for all the family. Her grandmother
was a CHRISTIAN, think grandfather's name was Michael. They met and fell
in love on board ship from England, marr. upon arrival in America. I'll
give you more details in next post. Were any of your GOREs in Platte Co. if
so could
have certainly been related. Yipee, this is really fun! I have a cousin,
Roma,
who knows even more about the GOREs than I, gave me most of it. I'll dig
out her email address and send it to you. Apparently she got alot of info
from Archives, but I don't know all about it yet, said she'd send it to me.
I also made contact with a descendant to Phantly Roy BEAN and wife
Anna GORE, from their dau. Sarah H. BEAN. They also had sons, Joshua,
(!st mayor of San Diego), Samuel, Mexican War Vet, great and famous
as a writer in his late yrs., James (no info about), and Phantly Roy Jr.,
who was the famous Judge Roy BEAN, the law west of the Pecos fame.
I have alot of info re him, some about all but James.
Anxiously awaiting your next email, Sue Reddell
PS. Thanks for telling me about BEAN Lake, hope to go up there to see it
all for myself, soon. William BEAN is supposedly buried in the Alexander
Cem. which was on his farm, some MCADOWs buried there too, marr
Benjamin's dau. I also have a book, The Annuals of Platte County Missouri,
by Alfred PAXTON, lots of very interesting info it it to be sure.
