Many thanks again to those who replied to my email on my
ggg-grandmother, Emily MURPHY, of Mason County, Kentucky. She is listed
in the 1870 Census as a Mulatto born in Virginia. I had several
questions which many of you were willing to assist. I would like to a an
additional set of facts to my first post: the MURPHY surname was her
married name. Given that, how would I found her parents? As well as the
family that may have owned her? By the way, her husband's name was
Alexander MURPHY. The two had seven children, of which the oldest son
was my gg-grandfather, Perry MURPHY(my son's namesake).

Last question: the two had three daughters Mary Francis (Murphy) BALL,
Melvina (Murphy) JONES and Emma or Emily (Murphy) JOHNSON. The three are
listed in the 1870 and 1880 Kentucky Census. But I have been unable to
find them in the 1900 (except for Mary), 1910 and 1920 Censuses. I
believe Mary may have died prior to the 1910 Census(based on property
records), Melvina's husband is from North Carolina, and Emma is listed
as a resident of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky in 1934. Given that, how do I
find these difficult daughters?
