I want to find out about J.B. Tucker and William Kenny, who married Nannie
and Mary LANGHORNE, the daughters of Robert J. LANGHORNE and Isaphena HART
of Maysville, and about the Tucker and Kenney children. I've clipped
everything I've got on them. I can track the Langhorne line back to the
original immigrant, Capt. John Langhorne in 1668. Thanks for any help you
can give me.
Harry Langhorne
Philadelphia
3. Nannie J. Langhorne. Born ca. 1835, based on 1870 Census. Nancy is
mentioned in her grandfather Aaron HART's will of 14 May 1843, (see Will
Book 5, p. 376, Alleghany County). In 1842, the Misses Langhorne of
Washington, probably Robert's daughters, and Mrs. M. Langhorne of Maysville,
Robert's stepmother, attended a ball in Washington, extensively described in
Clift, p. 190. Nannie = William KENNY. I suppose this is the Dr. William
KENNEY in the 1870 Census for Paris, Bourbon County, 27 June, p. 446-7. He
was age 52, with Nannie Kenney, age 35, and Blanche, age 12, at school. He
was a physician, living in a hotel, with personal estate worth $10,000 and
real estate worth $2,500. Dr. William Kenney was listed as having received
his medical degree from Louisville Medical Institute in 1845, and practicing
in Paris in 1874, 1878, 1890, 1893, 1896, see Medical Directories. On 20
Aug. 1873, Nannie and her husband transferred her interest in three houses
in Maysville on the east side of Market Street, running eastwardly toward
Limestone Street, being the same interest willed to her by her grand-father,
Maurice Langhorne. (See Weis, p. 47, citing Book 76, p. 510; p. 49, citing
Book 80, p. 415).
A: Blanche Kenney, age 12 in 1870 Census.
B: William Kenney Jr. According to the 1923 Directory he was born
1877, received his medical degree from Kentucky School of Medicine in
Louisville in 1898, and practed in Paris, Kentucky. The 1900 Census counted
him in Paris, 2nd ward, living alone on Main Street, age 23, born in
Kentucky in Sept. 1876, a physician, see ED 2-10-30. In 1910, he a
physician, age 32, and was married to Maude L. Kenney, age 30, born in
Kentucky. They had been married 8 years, and had eight children, only three
of whom were living. They owned their own home, free of mortgage, (see 1910
Census, Paris, Bourbon County, ED 1-household 286). In 1920 they were
living at 1968 South Main Street, and had one one child, (see 1920 Census,
Bourbon County, Kentucky, ED 1-9-92).
i: Charles A. Kenney, age 8 in 1910, 17 in 1920, born in Kentucky.
ii: Frances L. Kenney, age 6 in 1910, age 16 in 1920, born in
Kentucky.
iii: William D. Kenney, age 2 in 1910, age 12 in 1920, born in
Kentucky.
iv: Elizabeth Kenney, age 6 in 1920, born in Kentucky.
5. Mary J. Langhorne. She is mentioned in her grandfather Aaron HART's will
of 14 May 1843, see Alleghaney County, Pennsylvania Will Book 5, p. 376.
She = J.B. TUCKER. Maurice, Nanny and Mary were the children and heirs of
Robert J. LANGHORNE who on 8 Nov. 1878 transferred a house and lot in
Maysville, then being used as a clothing store, to Bettie DAVIS, and another
house and lot to James RICE. This could be J.B. Tucker, age 47 in 1870,
farmer, living with Mary, age 34, therefore born ca. 1836; Columbus, age 10,
at school; Eva, age 9; and ?Benlington, age 3. Tucker owned real estate
worth $1,300 and personal property worth $400. (See 1870 Census, Scott Co.,
Ky., Georgetown, p. 342).
