My g-g-grandfather, Peter Gordon, married Clarissa Berry Loyd (b:
1/1/1808) on 1/30/1832. She was the daughter of Clary (Clarissa?) Berry
and Dixon Loyd. According to county marriage records, Dixon and Clary
were married 6/26/1791. Beyond that, I have not traced the Loyd or Berry
families any farther. Peter Gordon was listed as a "farmer" and probably
had a small tobacco farm, but I do not know if he had any slaves. I plan
on following up on this in the next year or so, and will also be looking
for Berry and Loyd information.
