Dear Eleanor & Ellen,

I represent the other corner of this John Higgins triangle: Nancy Fyffe
who married John Higgens in 1805. John Higgins signed their marriage
bond. Maybe we could compare signatures. I will mail you a copy if you
wish. That is about all I know, except an 1822 letter which mentions
John Higgins, but not Nancy. He was appointed the guardian of Nancy's
sister's daughter.

Ellen, we were going to look for John Higgins in the censuses of 1800,
1810, 1820, & 1830. At least we could find out if any of those years
caught him between wives. Have either of you checked this out?

Nancy's father, James Fyffe, married Nancy Rankins in 1809. Could she
have been John' s widowed sister? Did a Nancy Higgins marry a Rankins?
James Portor co-signed their marriage bond.

I have located descendants for all of the Fyffe children except Nancy
Higgins.

marriages.
