I don't know where the Maysville Infirmary (poor house) was located, but
Mason County had a poor house on Lowell Rd. in the western part of the county
in the late 1800s. This is between KY route 596 and Sardis, Ky. My Great
Grandfather William Henry Howard was the Superintendent. My Grandfather,
Napolean Howard was born there April 9, 1869. The building was a large log
structure that sat down in the bottoms near the creek. The remains of the
building is still visible with dense vines growing over it. The residents
were listed in several census records.
