Hi Trudy,
I am in Minnesota. I've been to Mason Co. a couple of times. Not for very long
of a stay either time, but I had a lot of fun. My father-in-law, Walter Hines,
grew up in Maysville and they attended the St. Pat's Catholic church. His
mother was Alma Furlong and his father was Dr. Walter Hines Sr. (one of the town
dentists.)
I've got some info, mostly census records. But I'm stuck on finding the ship in
1854 and I'd sure like to get copies of the Naturalization papers. I would like
hear more about Covington and that Diocese. Andrew Furlong died on December 22,
1886 at (supposedly) Covington, (St. Elizabeth Hospital), Kenton Co., KY. But I
have not been able to find a death record for him.
I have written to the Yola Farmstead Genealogy Centre in Co. Wexford. I was
able to find out that these Furlongs had five children (two died as infants) in
Bree Parish, Co. Wexford before immigrating to Mason Co.
