Jean, I loved the story about the names on the census being all wrong. It
happened to me.
The 1910 Lawrence Co., KY census has my Aunt Olive listed as Mary O.
The 1920 Lawrence Co., KY census really was strange: on this one Aunt Olive
was listed as Oliver, Elliott who died at age 4 was listed as Cecil, and my
Aunt Shirley was listed as Stanley! The ages all match and after thorough
family discussion we are satisfied as to who all these people are. The big
surprise was that Elliott's name had to have been either Elliott Cecil or
Cecil Elliott. (He was hit on the head with a hoe when he was four years
old by a playmate who had come to play after Sunday School one Sunday
morning and he died a few days later.)
