I just received the following from a new Clifton cousin she has some question
on Osborne and Wainscott wanted to pass along to you and see what you all
think. She is not a member of this list and I just wrote her back giving her
my web page and Clifton information. I would be interested in the Cherokee

My g-g-g-grandmother was Meariah Clifton ....... here is how I descend from
her:
Noah Clifton m. Charlotte Osborne
daughter: Meariah Clifton m. Washington Wainscott
daughter: Nancy Wainscott m. William Perkins
daughter: Missouri Ann Perkins m. John McKinney
daughter: Mary Ellen McKinney m. Deward B. Skirvin
daughter: Margaret Ellen Skirvin m. Calvin C. Murphy
daughter: Crystal Murphy (myself)

Could you please advise me on the history of this family? Is there any
Cherokee Blood that you are aware of? My g-Grandma Missouri often spoke of
being Cherokee, of her father being Cherokee, and of the Trail of Tears ...
the Cherokee Indian Removal. I have been searching and searching for
information on g-g-Grandman Nancy Wainscott's family. I found the Clifton &
Osborne records through Ancestory.com ..... a family member had told me once
that we had Osbornes in the family tree .... but I had not run across it
until I found Meariah Clifton. I would greatly appreciate a reply, as I am
anxious to continue my research on this family.
