The DeLorme Atlas I have does not list this place at all in Kentucky, and
shows that First Creek was way over in Edmonson County near Brownsville. No
First Creek in Perry County on this Atlas. There is, however, a postoffice
listed for a community? named First Creek. And there was a First Creek Coal
Company (1916-1918) and a First Creek Mining Company (1919-1924), along with
the Blue Diamond Coal Company (1915-1958) in the community of Blue Diamond
(this is north of Hazard). See the website:

and

Here's another site that talks about First Creek:

An interesting possibility for the Dowlas: There is a community and a
(defunct now, I think) mine in Glamorganshire, Wales, (Merthyr Tydfil) by the
name of Dowlais, where one of my ancestors worked. There is also in Perry
County a place called Glomawr, which is also a Welsh name. I'd be willing to
bet that some of the mine operators, workers, etc were, at least early on,
from Wales, and named some of these places after their villages.
