Subject: 36 New Cemetery Pages on Rowan Co site

Rowan County researchers,

Yesterday, August 12, I uploaded to the Rowan County web site
35 new pages of cemetery surveys. These inventories were made
by the Rowan County Historical Society in late 1997, but the
web pages I had constructed for them at that time were lost in
a hard drive failure in Jan 1998, before they could be uploaded.

One of the projects I've been working on since I got a new
laptop computer in June 99 has been to redo the cemetery pages
that were lost in that disaster.

Also, on August 5, I uploaded a survey of the Stewart Cemetery
on McBrayer Road in Clearfield, contributed by Louis M. Stewart.

These new contributions bring the total number of cemeteries
inventoried on the Rowan County KyGenWeb site to 104.

The 36 new pages are marked in the Cemetery List with a little
blue flower:

All named burials on them have been merged into the index pages:

There were 1,366 named burials indexed from the new files, bringing
the total number of indexed names to 3,360.

Surnames with at least 9 individuals indexed from the new pages
include:

ADAMS FULTZ NICKELL
ADKINS GLOVER PARKER
CAUDILL GOODMAN PLANK
CLARK HALL PORTER
CLAYTON JOHNSON PUCKET(T)
CONN KELSEY QUESINBERRY
CRAGER LEWIS (60 !) SCAGGS
DAY MARKWELL STEWART
EVANS MAY TEMPLEMAN
FRALEY MOORE (38) TURNER
WHITE

P.S. If you are on the Cc list for this message, then either you have
requested notification of all submissions to the Rowan Co Query Forum,
or you have corresponded with me about Rowan County genealogy, but you
are not subscribed to the KYROWAN-L list. You may want to consider
subscribing. It is a low volume list, so it won't fill up your mailbox.
It is used mainly for announcements of additions to the KyGenWeb county
site or the USGenWeb Archives, sharing of URLs to family pages, and
other announcements of general interest to Rowan County researchers.

Most query activity takes place on the GenConnect board.
