Hi Tom

Well, I guess there was a purpose in having all of you tell me at once about
needing to talk to Jay. You are the second family member - cousin who
didn't know of his surgery.

I'd love to see those old pictures as well. I live in California and don't
know when I'll make it to KY. When I do I'm going to have many to visit
with that's for sure.

Jean

I hadn't heard about him having surgery. I went to Southville and met him
summer before last. The lady at the store said he was out in the tobacco
field across the street. I found him in the tobacco barn and had a pleasant
talk with him. I have a picture of him, my dad and uncle, and other
relatives taken on the Carriss farm in the late 40's.

At the time he said I could come back when he wasn't so busy in the fields
and look at pictures he has. I am ashamed to say I haven't been back yet (I
live in Louisville), but I will. I might check on him in February. If you
talk to him before I do, tell him you talked to me. His cousin - they are
first cousins (my father) is John D Carpenter. He probably knows him as
"Dud".

Tom
