Hi Everyone, I hope your are all having a great day.
I am trying to find out about a company called "Armourdale Ice Co.,". It was
started at least in the 1870"s and possibly earlier. George Altop/Alltop
started it. He bought 10 more acres of land in Armourdale and in the early,
early 1900's started building 10 homes on the 10 acres while still running the
ice company. He had a partner/employee by the name of David Wentling. George
named his middle son David Wentling Altop. They were flooded out in one of
the floods of 1904-1911 and moved to Montana for a few years. Some of the 14
children stayed in Armourdale with the grandparents (James Linville Campbell
and Nancy White Vanderpool,Campbell). George, (his wife) Artemisa Altop and
her parents James and Nancy Campbell were buried in K.C. KS. I need to find
out where and if I can get the cemetery information. The oldest daughter of
George and Artemisa was Mary Jane Weiss (John). John worked (I think ) for
the Armor company. The Weiss family, and others of the children's families
attended the Armourdale Baptist Church. Is there somewhere in K.C. other than
the K.C. library that I can get more infomation on these families?? Thank
you for any assist you can give me.
Jo
