Carolyn,
A dit name is a nickname or aka [also known as]name. Beausoliel is a dit
name for Broussard and several other surnames.
The Turpin line [military officers]were in Illinois and several ended up
in Louisiana. A daughter of one of the Turpins married a Black
Legionnaire and their descendants are in New Orleans and the St.
Martinville area. Interestingly, inter-racial marriages were discouraged
but not prohibited in Colonial Louisiana.
Do you know if Michel Turpin and Julie Beausoliel were in Louisiana?
