Linda, is this permissable?
Looking for parents of Thomas Wofford.

Linda, Jeanie, and anyone following this trend:
The trial of Thomas Wofford, accused of killing Martin Parker near Reeves,
LA. in 1911, ended with Thomas Wofford cleared of murder, that he shot in
self-defense. Both lived in the vicinity of the Reeves area and knew each
other well. Parker was about 22 yrs. of age, white, single, the s/o Everette
Parker and Lutitia Kingrey, and a member of the Congregational Church
pastored by Rev. Paul Leeds. He is buried in the Old Kingrey Cemetery in
Barnes Creek, near Reeves, LA.
These were all good families.
The article on the trial, held in Calcasieu Parish mentions 3 of Wofford's
brothers (witnesses called to testify): Clarence, C. W., and J. C. (probably
Jesse). (I am searching for PARENTS). One source says born in Texas.
Also states Parker was a nephew of Mrs. Sim O. Shattuck of Lake Charles.
(who has 2 babies buried in the same Kingrey Cemetery.)
Some Witnesses called to testify: O. Jared Alexander, his son, Arthur
Alexander, Barney Walkner, T. J. Eure, and wife, Louis Newell, Jay Thigpen,
Albert Land, John Creel, Mrs. Violet Pearson, S. H. Ellis, Hardy Lanier, and
John Kelly. All witnesses lived in surrounding areas.
Wofford was incarcerated for 4 months, and as stated in article, looked pale
and sickly at the trial, although he held up well. He was put on the stand
and spoke well and impressive.
Thomas Wofford b. 1873 - d. 1918 buried in Lyles Cem. Barnes Creek
Martin Parker b. 1888 - d. 1911 buried Kingrey Cem. Barnes Creek.

I am researching the Kingreys, Parkers and Woffords for a historical and
genealogical project, (although I am distant kin and knew of some of these
people). I have much on Kingreys and Parkers, but nothing on parents of
these Woffords.
Thus I have requested Census look-ups for Woffords.
Thanks to all. Ethel
