Hello Everybody,

This is my first post to the list.

FRANCES "FANNIE" DAY HENDERSON CURRIE

Frances was born to Jonathan DAY and E. E. A. "Eliza" ca 1836 or 1846 in
Amite County, MS.
(She should be listed on the 1840 census at about age 4), or
(She would be listed on the 1850 census as age 4 or 14 if born in 1836)

She married Robert Henderson in Amite County 1864.

She gives birth to daughter N. Henderson ca 1866.
(Are there any descendants of N. Henderson living?)

She marries Malcolm M. CURRIE in December 1867.
(How long was she married to Robert? I assume he died and that they were
not divorced. What did Robert die of? Where is Robert buried?)

Her son M. A. is born, ca 1869.

Frances is mentioned in her father's will, 1870/1871.

Son, Johnson Edward, born 04 Aug 1870 Gloster, Amite, MS.

Son, N. F. born 1873.

Daughter, M. E. born 1875.

Son, G. J. born 1877.

Son, Wayne Huff Currie, born 1885.

T(his next bit of info was sent to me by Patsy who is on the MSAMITE
County List. I don't know if this is my Malcolm, but it sure fits
nicely.)
From GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN "Miss. Enterprise" 10 Dec. 1890:
Died Friday, 5 Dec, 1890 at residence of WE Behrens, Dr. MM CURRIE, age
49
yrs. & 9 mo. Resided in Tilden, La, formerly of Amite. Survived by wife &
6
children.
I've found out that Tilden is in Avoyelles Parish and was a town of about
50 people. The 1880 census list M. M. Currie as a farmer and I have a
note that he was also a "P" something. I never made a copy of this
census. It was when I first started researching and just didn't have the
money. Maybe that was physician! Hmmmm. I've had a few good leads here
these past few days. Are there any cemeteries records for Avoyelles
Parish? I wonder if he was buried there, are was he buried in Amite
County, MS. What happened to his family? Did Frances marry again?

I haven't looked at any 1900 Federal Census.

1910 - My grandfather, Wayne Huff Currie, son of Malcolm Currie & Frances
Day is living with his brother Johnson Edward Currie in Arcadia,
Bienville, LA. My grandfather is single and a bookkeeper.

1914 Initiated, Passed and Raised into the Mason's in Louisiana. His
occupation is listed as Deputy Sheriff.

Between 1910 and 1916 he marries Gertrude Irene Pike who was born and
raised in Dyersburg, Dyer, TN.

May 1917 - Wayne and Gertrude are the proud parents of my father, Joe
Monroe Currie.

November 1919 - They become parents of Jacqueline.

November 22, 1919 - Gertrude dies at the home of her parents, Joe and
Georgia Lentz Pike.
November 27, 1919 - Wayne dies at the home of his in-laws the Pikes.
Nobody seemed to know anything about who his parents were.

My father was raised by his maternal grandparents Joseph P. PIKE and
Georgia Etta LENTZ. Daddy never really knew anything about the Currie's.
His grandfather, Joe, died in 1926 when Daddy was about 8 or 9. He had
an uncle and one first cousin on his mother's side. I have never meet
any family from Daddy's side of the family. Since being on-line I've
meet a few through e-mail. I've seen a picture of Daddy's first cousin
as a child and one as an older adult.
