To stay updated on my research I wanted to post my news to this board. I went to the library and figured out the puzzle. The census taker used the ditto marks incorrectly. The only Flowers child was Hannah Elizabeth Flowers. The rest were Kent.

Martha A. Shows married J. P. Flowers on 1-15-1868, and they had one daughter; Hannah Elizabeth Flowers.

I don't know what happened to J. P. Flowers.

Next, Mrs. Martha A. Flowers married J. R. Kent on 1-5-1871.

J. R. and Martha's children were:
Mary Mahania (Mahaney) Kent--October 1871.
John W. Kent--December 17, 1872
Nancy D. (Delly) Kent--January 1874
William R. Kent--September 1879

This is according to the 1880 census for Caddo Pa., LA. Of course they may have had more children between 1880 and 1900.

I also found the Caddo Pa. marriage records to verify the marriages:

1-15-1868 J. P. Flowers m. Miss M. A. Shows; married by John McCain, MG; witnesses: J. S. Liles, Conrad Echart, O. M. Bush

1-5-1871 J. R. Kent m. Mrs. M. A. Flowers; married by John Newberry, JP; witnesses: M. H. Kent, T. M. Womack
