Subject: Soc. Sec. application fees increasing

The current fees for copies of social security
applications are $7 with the social security number &
$16.50 without it. The rates are increasing as of July
1 to $27 and $29 respectively. If your request is
postmarked prior to July 1 you will only need to pay
the current rates. To search the social security death
index (SSDI) go to Rootsweb (http://www.rootsweb.com).
If you find a record you wish to request click on the
"SS-5 Letter" link & it will automatically create a
request letter for you.
There's a link at the SSDI search page at Rootsweb to
give you more information on the SSDI. Also this is a
link to more information about the rate increases &

So, if you have been procrastinating about any
requests, now is the time to send them in!
