My wife is a 4th great granddaughter on Gen Edward Lacey. We have done much research on his familly and are adding more on a regular basis. There is an error in the familysearch site that you referenced. Col. Lacey and Gen. Lacey are the same man. Edward Lacey, Jr. born Shippensburg Tsp. PA. in 1742. He started as a Captain, was a Colonel by 1780 but was not made General until the war was ended. By 1797 he had moved his family to Tennessee and two years later to Livingston Co. KY. He was drowned there on 20 Mar 1813. His wife Jane died some two months later. About 1816 all the children moved their families to central Alabama (now Birmingham). Some later move on to other areas.
I have seen no evidence that the father, Edward, Sr. ever had a military connection. in fact he remained a dedicated Tory during the Revolution.
This is what is known about Robert Lacey, son of Edward, Jr
Robert:Born 8 July 1777 in South Carolinia. His death date is unknown. Married Nancy Love on 6 July 1804 in Livingston County, Ky. Moved with family to Jefferson County in 1816 where he became a "Justice of the Quorum". Later he moved to Pickens County, Alabama where he was a
substantial farmer and slave owner. They are buried at Zion church yard on Columbus Road. They had four children. They are not listed in 1850 census of Pickens County and may have died before it was taken.
