Hi Patti,

Yes, he's the same Abraham P. LaChapelle who I'm researching as well.

1881 Canadian Census Georgina, York North, Ontario
Abram LaChapelle M Male French 35 O Labourer Roman Catholic
Mary LaChapelle M Female French 30 Quebec RC
Frank LaChapelle Male French 10 O RC
Charlotte LaChapelle Female French 7 O
Malcolm LaChapelle Male French 4 O
Abigale LaChapelle Female French 2 O

1901 Canadian Census Simcoe County, Tay Township
LaChapelle, Abraham M Head M 9 OCT 1846 55 ONT
LaChapelle, Mary F Wife M 5 JUNE 1852 49 QUE
LaChapelle, Franklin M Son S 4 ??? 1870 30 ONT
LaChapelle, Malcolm M Son S 27 MARCH 1877 24 ONT
LaChapelle, Abby F Dau S 15 JUNE 1879 21 ONT
LaChapelle, Angus M Son S 16 JULY 1881 19 ONT
LaChapelle, Laura F Dau S 3 NOV 1888 12 ONT

I don't have a birth certificate for him and so the birthdate has to be 'estimated' off the census right now. I hate doing that because the census enumerators were notorious for making mistakes (No!) and so makes the information unreliable. Not only that, but most of their handwriting was/is hard to read.

Anyway, I am more so interested in researching Abraham's parents, Louis LaChapelle and Eliza Sedore. If you come accross any information about them I would love to see it.

Unfortunately, it may well be that I will have to make a 'research holiday' out east to Ontario to search the parish records myself one day. I do have a pretty good pedigree file on this LaChapelle family, but the person who gave it to me could not give me any source documentation for any of the information and so, I have to treat it as speculative research for now. I'm an advocate for source documentation.

Happy hunting.
Cheers, Sid
