Have you ever heard of a Robert (I believe) Pair who lived in Claiborne Parish
prior to the Civil War? Supposedly, Pair shot two judge's sons and fled to
Texas in 1850s, where he changed his name to Alexander Jones. I have spoken
with Pair's great grandson who now lives in Texas. After finding a letter
written by a great aunt telling about the incident several months ago, he
called me at the newspaper looking for information, Since our newspaper didn't
go back that far, I had no information to give him, but I would love to know
more about it. Sounds like a great story for our paper, especially with our
Sesquicentennial Celebration coming up in November.
