Sorry my computer seems to have a mind of its own this morning.
I would send for his complete military records and pensison records
he lived that long he probably filed for a penison and his wife's name (maiden) hopefully will be on it also.
My husband's grandfather lived to 1934, and his wife's maiden name was on it. Some application's give alot of information.
Confederate war index #378 (31 rolls)
complied military service records #320 404 rolls.
These should be available at your local genealogy library.

Did you check probate "succession" records, death reords on both of them, obituary, cemetery records, church, marriage bond or license records.
