This is another strange one from me......
I have a family photograph that was taken in Minden in 1945 when my father
and his family members returned to town for the funeral of their brother Mack
Moreland Dutton. The photograph has several unidentified people in it. One
person we know is my grandmother Martin Ida Monzingo Dutton (known as Ida M.
Dutton). She was 89 at the time of her son's death.
There is another elderly woman in the photo whom we cannot identify. She
looks slightly, but not much, younger than my grandmother. My grandmother had
only one daughter and she died in 1942 so it can't be she in the photo. My
grandmother had a half sister Frances Caroline Monzingo (b. Sep 1849 in GA; d.
Feb 1924, Minden, Webster, LA) who married Willis B. Lunsford. They had
among their children two daughters Daisey M. Lunsford (b. abt. 1878 in Homer,
Claiborne, LA) and Ada O. Lunsford (b. Dec 1871 also in Homer, Claiborne, LA).
These would have been my grandmother's nieces. Ada married Oliver B.
Moreland (son of J. B. Moreland and Mary A. Phillips) and they moved to Sweetwater,
Nolan, TX. Daisey married Oliver's older brother Sidney S. Moreland, Sr.,
(b. Nov 1862 in ?, Claiborne, LA). Sidney S. Moreland, Sr., was 16 years
older than his wife and two years older than my grandmother. At the time of my
uncle's death, I think that Daisey M. Lunsford Moreland was still living. She
would have been about 76. I can find no record of her death and she is not
listed in the Louisiana Death Index. Her husband died in 1939.
I am speculating that Daisey's husband Sidney S. Moreland, Sr., may have
been the Godfather of my uncle Mack Moreland Dutton. Therefore, his wife would
have attended the funeral if she were still alive at the time. She may very
well be the unidentified elderly woman in my family picture from 1954.
So... if any is a descendant of Daisey M. Lunsford and Sidney S. Moreland,
Sr., or knew them and might recognize the woman in the photo, please let me
know. I have scanned the photo and can send it as an email attachment.
Thanks so much,
Marelle
(Mary Eleanor Dutton Urso)
