Dear Margaret,
I have a few questions about your FGS:
Philemon and Esther was in, I believe Rockingham Co. NC about 1775-6, they were
in Yohogania Co., or believe to have been him and his family, no proof in
1776. He signed a petition in 1776 to disband Yohogania Co., it was disbanded
about 1786. That part of northern VA was changed to Southwest corner of PA.
Philemon left Yohogania Co. some time before 1787, he was in Washington Co. NC
(now Carter Co. TN), in the tax list in 1787 there. Carter Co. became a county
in 1796.
I am sure that the age of George is a typo, he was born in 1784 not 1884,
Philemon died 1832 in McMinn Co. TN.
Can you tell me where I can find proof of Philemon's parents, William and
Sarah. I thought that maybe Philemon's father was James Lacey, his first son
was named James. There was a James from Charles City Co., VA, thought that
might be his father. I believe that he had something to do with the New Kent
Co., Lacy/Laceys, maybe a brother to Henry, Benjamin and William. I will
probably never know.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Norma (Lacy) Fritts e-mail
O' my line comes through Philemon, son William, son James, son John, son George
Thomas, son ED, son Robert, my father.
OH, my file card on your Abraham says that his wife's name was spelled, Celia
(Selia), just throwing that in for good measure, HA!
