Leota -

I believe the information on George Washington Terrill LADD as being a
settler in 1820 is not from land records but rather from folk knowledge, as
he was only born in 1808. The Amos listed in 1824 was his father, the Amos
who married Anna Stone. Anna is the the Ana LAD or the Sweeden's Cove
church. Sweeden's Cove is adjacent, or almost so, to Ladd's Cove [I was
lost there a couple of weeks ago trying to by-pass expressway paving - a
beautiful place.] If the information is correct on Amos having died in
Bedford County, then he & Anna moved there (or back there) after 1824. I
say 'back there' because the biography of their son, Amos of Polk County,
TN, states that he was born in Bedford County in 1814. There were some
errors stated in that bio, but I do not think at this time that the Bedford
County information was one of them. By the way, In that same time period,
Huldah LADD & Robert MAJORS were in Bedford County. Huldah was a 1C1R to
this Amos b.1780.

Also listed on the 1824 tax list was one Sanders McMahan - famous for being
my 3GGF.
