Services for Alonzo Johnston, 82, of Heflin will be at 2 p.m. today
in the Wellman's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy O. Smith, Pastor of
Southside Baptist Church officiating.
Graveside services and burial will also be at 4 p.m. today in Pelican
Cemetery.
Mr. Johnston died at 10:30 A.M. Friday at Midway Manor Nursing Home
after a long illness. A Pelican native, Mr. Johnston had lived in Heflin 22
years. He was a retired dairyman and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Inez Johnston of Shreveport; one son,
Ollie B. Johnston, of Shreveport; a daughter, Mrs. Oby D. Shefield of
Lakeland, Fla; two brothers, Frank Johnston of Shreveport and Wernick
Johnston of Minden; two sister, Mrs. Ernest Davis of Shreveport and Mrs.
Amanda Valintine of Mansfield; seven grandchildren and several
great-grandchildren.

ALONZO JOHNSTON 01 Sep 1895 Dec 1977 Durring the 1950s he owned a dairy on
Mansfield Rd at about 40th Ave.
