Most of the LaFon's in my family lived in Giles, VA. The first LaFon in my family to migrate was Samuel Taylor LaFon who moved to what is now Lawrence County Ohio. All of the LaFons that I can find that are descended from him have lived in either Lawrence County Ohio, Wayne County West Virginia or Cabell County West Virginia. However, I cannot get further back than John LaFon. There isn't even any agreement as to where he was born. Some say VA, some say NC. Some suggest that the reason why there isn't much information is because he was an immigrant who was born in the southern part of France. Who knows. Sometimes I feel like I'm chasing my tail. :-)
