Ezra Martin and Mary L.Clark: Moved from Michigan to Louisiana probably some time in the mid to late 1880's. He went with his wife Mary L., his son Clarence B., and his dau.Maude. They had 2 other children, as the 1900 census states but I am unaware of their names. I have tons of information on Ezra's maternal line if any one is interested. She was my 2 x gt-grd mother who remarried my 2x gt grdfather George Hill after 1st husband Noah Clark died in 1862 in Calhoun Co,MI. Laura [Putnam] and Noah Clark had Ezra and Elwood. Elwood stayed in Michigan, but even tho Ezra and family are on the 1880 Michigan census but by 1900 census he is in Crowville as a farmer with wife Mary, widower son-in-law Albert D. "Griffing" and grand children Mary G. (Gertrude) and Albert C. Griffing, age 2 at the time. Crowville cemetery listings, found on the Franklin Parish genweb, showed Maude "Griffin"; her age at death was 24 years, but there is no death date. Does anyone have any more info on!
this Clark/GriffinI checked your local clerk office and they only have marriage records. I suspect Ezra M. is buried there near wife Mary L, but the transcriptions of the cemetery do not list his name.Wonder is the original book "Cemeteries of Franklin Parish LA" might have it?
Ezra's son Clarence B. Clark married an Adair (or Addie), and had many children before his died in 1922, after which is appears Addie moved Ouachita Parish.(1910 Ouachita, 1920 Franklin, 1930 Ouachita Censuses) They had a Charles, Elwood, Ezra, Syble, Addie Beatrice, and Elaine. Clarence is buried in the Crowville Cemetery, but don't know when Addie died or where buried.
Ezra and Mary had another daughter who must have married a man with surname of Mathis, as their single, 15 yr. old grand-daughter, Ivadell Mathis, is living with Ezra and Mary in the 1920 census. If any one has any info on Clark/Mathis union, I would appreciate it. Dennise H.
