If I'm not mistaken my grandmother talked about a man named George Allen. If this the is same man, here's the story. First let me tell you i am Black and my grandmother was raised up in Wisner and Holly Grove. She said Mr. Allen had a Black mistress and he had I think 5 daughters by this women. Evidently he really cared about his Black family and they lived in the house with him. Well the locals did'nt see things his way seeing how the times were. Anyway being that he was a prominent and well known citizen they asked Mr. Allen could he please move his Mistress and children somewhere else or there was going to be trouble. Mr. Allen agreed to move the mistress out but the children remained in the house with him. He raised his mulatto children and he never had any real trouble doing so. All of the girls married Black men. This may answer some question about his dismissal from law enforcement. My grandmother has past on but there are others still living who remember this story.!
