Greetings / Saluations!
The American Public Broadcasting System (PBS) has been airing an
important series on American colonial history on their channels which
you would find very interesting. It is called 'Colonial House'. The
program focuses on a group of modern-day Americans who volunteered for
this project and after a period of training on the customs and culture
of the early 1600's, are actually transported to a 'colony' and are left
on their own to survive. The day-to-day experience of these people and
their reactions are most interesting. Watching this series is a great
way to learn the intimate details of colonial life. I would recommend
that you tune in to your local PBS channel for this series. Their

importante sur l'histoire coloniale américaine sur leurs canaux que
vous trouverez très intéressants. Ce s'appelle 'Colonial House '. Le

the series, we watch the early 'colonials' sail to their colony on the
Mayflower II, a replica of Mayflower, and of the sickness, boredom of
the long sail. As they approach their destination on land, I thought
that I recognized the local scenery so I wondered where their 'colony'
actually was. When mention of the Passamoquoddy Indians was made in that
first hour, I knew that I had correctly identified the area as the
St-Croix River where the Acadians first settled in 1604, many years
before the English colonials settled in Plymouth or Jamestown. The
Colonial House's location is actually a stone's throw from St-Croix
Island, site of the first Acadian settlement. In fact, the U.S.National
Parks in collaboration with Canada Parks have designated the island as a
national park and are planning some access facilities to the island for
the near future. Dans la première heure de la série, nous observons

with the series however was that not once were the Acadians mentioned
and incredible as it might seem, no mention was ever made that the
Acadians had settled on St-Croix Island. Ma détresse avec la série

If you have the time and are so inclined, please join me in sending the
PBS folks (who by the way have done a great job in this series), to let
them know that they really missed a great occasion to correct the wrong
of all of our American, Canadian and British historians by not
mentioning the Acadians. They seem to continue the total 'blackout' on
Acadian history that has been given to us by our historians whether
American or British.

série), les faire savoir qu'elles ont vraiment manqué une grande
occasion pour corriger le mal de tous nos historiens américains,
canadiens et britanniques en ne mentionnant pas les Acadiens. Ils
semblent continuer tout le 'blackout' total sur l'histoire acadienne qui
nous a été donnée par nos historiens si Américain ou Anglais.
