I am looking for any info on the Lamkin family that lived in Macomb County, MI in the 1840 - 1860's. Both parents are reportedly from New York. I don't know the father's first name, he went to California during the Gold Rush days and was killed there. His family was then split up back in Macomb County. The mother's first name was Lydia, surname unknown. They had three sons and two daughters. The eldest son, Ocie fought in the civil war where he contracted an illness, went back home to Macomb Co. and died there in the summer of 1865. The next eldest son, Gurden, my great- great- grandfather was placed with a farmer, Wm Gass, he moved to Bay City, MI in the 1870's. The third son, Finley was placed with another family who moved to Niagra Falls, New York. One daughter was Henrietta, married name Kimball. I don't know the name of the second daughter, though I did find a census listing for a Marilin Lamkins of the right age in Macomb County in 1850.
Any further info on any members of this family would be greatly appreciated.
