Thanks, Ann! Yes, the Lamont History book is a great book and very helpful. It proves that Chief James Lamont wasn't the father of Andrew Lamont. They were cousins but I haven't figured out exactly how. Andrew Lamont was the son of John Lamont, s/o Gilbert, Baron McGorrie, of Knockdow.
I descend from this John Lamont who was hanged in a tree in the churchyard with 35 other clan leaders in 1646. It was his wife, Mary Young Lamont, who took her four sons and fled to Larne in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. If anyone is interested in this family, check out all the available info I have been able to amass in 25 years of researching:

Ann, you probably had not made the connection that I am the editor of the Wee Harp and also list mom for this list. <G>
Anyone interested in Clan Lamont should have a copy of this book. It is difficult to digest but well worth the effort.
