Hi Folks,

I'm a new subscriber & I'm located in Chesterfield, North Derbyshire,
although originally from Newcastle-under-Lyme/Stoke-on-Trent in
Staffordshire (let me know if I can assist if any of these locations are
relevant to you).

I'm trying to locate any DIMOND link to the area (my family name).

My GGgrandfather, Thomas Henry Dimond (b. 1831 Manchester) married Hannah
HOPKINS (b. 1832 Stoke-on-Trent) in Bridgetown, Glasgow on 20/12/1855
[source: IGI]
A few years later they lived in Stoke-on-Trent [source: 1881 Staffs.
census].

They baptised a son, James Leveson DIMOND 15/09/1856 in Mearns, Renfrew.
[IGI]
I don't know if he survived & remained in Glasgow area or not (not on
Staffs. census]

My GGgrandfather's parents were James DIMOND & Margaret HARDY, both I think
from Manchester.

Any help with any link most appreciated.
Any help with a few words about what Bridgetown and /or Mearns was like
around the 1850's (industrial/commercial?) also most appreciated. The link
to Scotland is a puzzle.

Cheers to all,

Dave (in Chesterfield, North Derbyshire)
