Two queries today. I was given a copy of a precious old letter written to a
young married couple in 1918 which needs a wee bit of translation..."Make
your fireside a happy one, by smiles, kind words and actions, and the very
first time the God of Gummin/Gurnin/Gurmin (?) visits your home, either on
the male or female side, Catch Him by the shorthus (Can guess that one!) and
bundle him out o' the doorwith a parting kick and if you do that depend upon
it, everythingelse will go right."
The other query is - if a marriage was registered at the Abbey in 1855, why
is the certificate signed by Alexander Renniston as Minister of St Georges?
