Hello list, I was just trying to help and didn't want to start an argument - Honest! :-)
But for what it is worth Pat is right in that the entry comes from an old Parish Register; Cockpen, Midlothian 1787.
Interestingly, there are two consecutive entries worded exactly the same except that the second couple - Thomas Davidson and Jean Logan - had their original 'irregular' marriage on 2nd Dec 1786 but, on the 25th February 1787, they too "were again declared married persons"

It seems that the 'Session' took themselves very seriously as they had two couples 'on the carpet' on the same day. Best wishes
