Hello Everyone,
This is Jayne McHugh your listowner and I just wanted to welcome everyone
to the list.
As of March 27th we have 38 subscribers so now is the time for everyone to
introduce themselves and let us all know who we are researching and where.
So please take a few moments to post a message to the list.
I was born in Doncaster, Yorkshire, England and emigrated to Ontario,
Canada in 1982 after marrying a Canadian, Shane. We have three young
children aged 12, 11 and 9 and I am a genealogy fanatic.
I have been researching my maiden name CLAYWORTH for over 20 years now and
there doesn't seem to be anyone out there researching this name so I'm kind
of going it alone.
My g-g-grandfather Robert CLAYWORTH was born at 26, Greetham Street,
Liverpool in 1849 and so was is older brother, Robert, who died at birth in
1847 and his older sister Hannah who was born in 1845. Robert's father,
John, died in November 1849 also at 26, Greetham Street, Liverpool at the
age of 34 years. In 1851 the family were living at 60, Pitt Street. After
John's death my g-g-g-grandmother Hannah (Slater) CLAYWORTH along with
Hannah & Robert moved back to Brampton/Newbold, Derbyshire.
My biggest challenge right now is trying to find John's birthplace/date. I
have a strong hunch that he was born in Newark, Notts. and after recently
receiving some census information for 1881 that Hannah was living with her
daughter, Elizabeth and family in Sneinton, Notts. the hunch as gotten
stronger. I know almost everything about John except his birthplace and
date.
There is a John Clayworth in the IGI who I think his mine but have no way
of verifying it yet. Ahh, one day the doors will open and all will be
revealed. I wish!!! <grin>
If you should come across any CLAYWORTH information I would really
appreciate it if you would contact me. Thanks.
Anyway, now it's over to you, I want my mailbox filled with introductions
tomorrow. Well, maybe not, this weekend is Easter after all so I'll give
you a few
more days, OK? <grin>
Take care and have a great Easter.
