Had a quick look in Chorley today for the gravestone you mention. The
parish churches of St Laurence and nearby St George (both in the town
centre, no longer have burial grounds attached to them. St Mary's RC is
in a similar state.
Also had a quick breeze around the cemetery (it's not just Church of
England) and looked at the gravestones near the small chapel. Looked at
from all angles I couldn't spot any of the graves you are looking for.
Any chance you could get the photo you saw and send a scanned copy over.
the grave could be at another burial ground altogether !
