You say they were exempt from the requirements to register in the
Church of England. This is not quite the same as being required to
register the event with the civil authorities. Is this what you
meant to say? As far as I am aware ALL births, marriages and deaths
must be registered with the civil authorities and therefore an entry
will appear in the indexes which are held at the Family Record
Centre.

Both the Quakers and the Jews, due to their superior record keeping,
were exempt from the requirement to register births, marriages and
burials in the Church of England. They kept their own registers. My
Lancashire English ancestors were Quaker and I have done significant
research in English Quaker records. If you have a Quaker family,
you are indeed lucky as the registers and the meeting minutes are
treasures.
