HI, I am looking for the names of the additional communities near Heaton
Norris I believe there is 2 more Heaton ________, and Heaton ______, and I
have insatiable curiousity and would love to find out the whys and wherefor's
of their names. Thanks Sue Heaton Cooper
Hi,
Heaton Norris was originally a separate township to the North of Stockport ie North of the River Mersey and hence was in Lancashire whilst Stockport itself was in Cheshire. Heaton Norris was incorporated into the County Borough of Stockport.
To the north of Heaton Norris now lies Heaton Chapel, And to the west of Heaton Chapel lies Heaton Moor and to the west of that lies Heaton Mersey. All three of which are now mainly residential suburbs of Stockport. The latter three have developed as Heaton Norris has expanded.
Hope this helps,
Colin Smith,
Billericay, Essex, UK.
