Subject: [LANCSGEN-L] Lancashire GERRISH's and Leyland HESKETHS

Hi All,
I have been researching therse two lines of my ancestry for several
years and have reliably got back to the mid - 1700's in both cases.
For the GERRISH family, I found that they came up to Lancashire from
Cornwall in the middle of the 1800's and settled in Ince. In the 1881
Census there are also some of the same family shown for Liverpool but I
do not know how that connection occured. In an effort to tidy up the
'tree' I am trying to trace all the descendants of this family sinc they
arrived in Lancashire and would be grateful to hear from anyone with
common interests or who know of current Gerrish's in Lancs.
The HESKETH interest is somewhat different. I know that my ggg.gf was
Thomas Hesketh(1742-1806) married (1770) to Elizabeth Norris and the
subsequent descendants I know more or less completely. However,
pre - 1742 is much less certain although I think that the line is
probably:
Thomas(1742) s/o William(1718) s/o John(1694) s/o William(1667)
s/o ????? - it may be John(?) m(April 1667) Elizabeth Tysinghe, however
ther is no conclusive proof of this. I would like to hear from anyone
interested in the Hesketh family both far past and recent past. How are
these Hesketh's in the 17th Century related to the Rufford branch of the
family?
My great uncle Charles Hesketh had a truck business in the
Wigan/Blackpool area but I know nothing about his family. Can anyone
enlighten me about them?
Finally I did once write to a member of the MLFHS who was reported to
be interested in the Leyland Heskeths but despite sending an
International reply coupon I never had a reply. Does this person still
exist and does he still profess to have this interest.

Hope to hear from someone about these queries.
