Hi Jan,
My mother's name was Charlotte Baird CUMMINGS, Baird being her mother's
surname. My husband was given as a middle name the surname of his
grandmother on his father's side. This was a fairly common naming tradition
in Scotland. If only my Lancashire ancestors had followed this tradition!!
